Hello Harper

Here's a card I did to welcome little Harper.  Since it was a mystery if Harper was going to be a boy or a girl, Mom and Dad did the nursery two different types of blue and all kinds of jungle animals.  After I left the hospital the day Harper was born, I went right to work on her card.

Since her room was a jungle theme, I just knew I had to go with the Create a Critter cricut cart.  I thought a pink giraffe would be adorable, and I added a little pink bow over the ears to top it off.  JoAnn's was having a sale on the open stock paper, and I thought this pink butterfly background would be super cute for a little girl.  The flowers are outlined in glitter.

I was so excited to give the card to the new Mom and Dad, that I wrote in the card before I took any pictures!!!  I still wanted to bring you the inside, since I think it is super cute, so pardon the message already written on the inside.

If you've been following me for a while, you'll recognize the heart paper from when I went to the scrapbook convention.  I just LOVE this pink and white heart paper.  I also used the Cricut Design Studio to spell out Harper's name and weld it all together.  The "r"s were a little tricky to make them look like different letters, so by alternating the height placement of the letters, you can tell what it says.

The new family is doing great.  And I can't wait to keep you guys updated with all the fun stuff that is going on with all the little lovies in my life!!

Hope you have a good weekend crafters!!

Catchin Up and Lookin Forward

Hello all my happy crafters!!!

I have finally had a chance to catch up on all the blogs that I follow, and let me tell you, there are some amazingly creative people out there!  If you're into crafting or especially if you have a cricut, I highly recommend that you follow Everyday Cricut's blog.  They blog such amazing stuff all the time!!  Another good blog to follow is Obsessed With Scrapbooking, lots of super cute crafts, and they also usually post a lot of coupons for craft stores.

This last week has been a super busy one. My friend with the mystery gender baby had her baby on Tuesday.  And guess what...?  Another girl!!  Harper is beautiful and is doing well.  I can't wait to go see the whole fam tonight.  But I do have some little craft projects for Harper and the fam.  I'll try to get some of those pictures to you all very soon.

As we're just about half way through the Friday work day, I hope you all have fun and exciting plans to look forward to for the weekend!!!

Anyone for a Bachelorette Party?

Going back to my previous post about a bachelorette party and pink embossing powder, I bring you one of the decorations for this order.  Granted, the banner doesn't actually have any embossing, but it still fits the same theme.

I had a lot of really fun pink paper to work with, so it was hard to narrow down which ones I wanted in the final product.  But I stuck with a textured polka dot and monochromatic pink polka dot.  The black on the other hand, I was slightly more limited in my choices, but it still turned out neat in my opinion.

The ribbon choice was also fun to work with.  I had a lot of choices, but the pink and black zebra print was an obvious one.  The other ribbon I went with was a pink and white polka dot ribbon since there were already a lot of other patterns, I wanted to keep it consistsent and make it not too busy.

Just waiting on the details to complete the insert of the Bachelorette party then I can bring you the full invite.  I've got several ideas of how I'm gunna put the insert together, it just depends on some of the info like location.  But until then, here's a sneak peek...

Until next time crafters, keep on crafting!!!

Spring Cards and Current Distractions

Got some bummer news today, so I'm trying to focus on crafting to keep my mind off of it.  Here is something I've been working on for the past few days.  It's a family (as the Hubster calls it) of 4 spring inspired cards.  They all have the same designs but are slightly different.

All of the cards are 4 1/4x 5 1/2, two are portrait and the other two are landscape.  The green butterflies are on a background of blended pink ink on top of an orange border.  The butterflies are raised by pop dots to give the card some depth.

The insert was left blank to allow for occasion customization (Easter/Mother's day/Spring) with the exception of a pink coordinating butterfly.

Got at least one other project to post so far.  And another one waiting in the wings for posting.  It's for a birthday, so the birthday girl gets to see it first before I post it here!!  So check back later in the weekend for what else I have fo you.

Happy Anniversary

I am so SO so excited to finally bring you pictures of this card.  This card is what brought my mind back to the creative side!

As previously mentioned, the bestest parents in the world had their 27th wedding anniversary last week.  I went back and forth on the idea and colors of what to do for the card.  Thought about purple since it's one of my mom's fave colors, but then I thought it wasn't just about my mom, it's about my dad too... But I didn't want it to be too masculine either.

So flipping through all my papers, I came across the green damask ish pattern and it just clicked.

Earlier in the week I actually went lookin around for anniversary stamps since surprisingly, I didn't have any yet.  Everything was birthday or baby inspired.  Luckily, I found something simple and to the point.  I feel like it fit perfect with this card.  You can't really see it but "Happy Anniversary" is embossed in white with silver glitter.

Then came the insert...  I actually cut to size a green distressed pattern for the inside of the card, but when I flipped it over to put stick'ums on it, I discovered I really really liked the pattern on the other side.  And even though it had a lot of blue in it, the pattern still went really well.

I edged the card with a chocolate brown ink to connect it with all the colors on the front.  On the card I sent my parents, the leaf pattern actually kinda framed the top and left side which left a big open space on the bottom right for a message.

Growing up I didn't understand a lot of the things that my parents said and did.  But now that I am an adult and married, it all makes sense.  My parents have been such an amazing example of sacrificial love with each other and with the rest of the family.  And I am so appreciative of everything they have done for me and that they have made me into the person that I am today.  Love you Mom and Dad!!!!  Happy Anniversary!  Hope you liked your card ;]

Just A Note

Alrighty...  here is one of this weekend's projects.

I can't take full credit for this card, I bought the green with white polka dot card from RedStamp.com and then embellished it with beige ribbon and cute lil foot prints.  I wanted something quick and simple, but still personalized.

This was the last thing that I was super slacking on from the baby shower I hosted in March.  I sent all the pictures from the baby shower to the moms of the parents-to-be.  I at first tried to put all pictures on to a disc, but that would have taken 3 or 4 discs there were so many pictures.  So I had to come up with another way to send the pictures out.  I decided on flash drives, and that was so super easy and I don't know why I waited this long to cross this project off my list.

I should be getting my camera back today or tomorrow, so I can take some super sweet pics of the other projects I did this weekend.  But for right now, this is the only pic I have.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

No More Hiatus!!

I know I told all you guys that I'm having to take a bit of a break from crafting to finish my degree...  but I just can't stay away!!!

My parent's wedding anniversary was yesterday, so naturally, I had to put together a little something to send to the best parents in the world.  I didn't have my camera with me to take pictures of the card before I sent it, so I just made a duplicate card to keep in my stash.  I'll be getting my camera back this weekend so I will definitely take some pics to show you all.

AAAANNNNDDDD.... now that I've gotten my creative juices flowing again, I seriously cannot stop!  I have a birthday card and bachelorette invites started that I just gotta finish up.  And I have a super awesome idea for Mother's day cards that I can't wait to explore.  I know Mother's day is still a ways away, but I got a lotta mommas in my life, so lots of cards to make.  I'm sure the suspense of all my projects is just killin you, so I will be sure not to disappoint!

Until next time...  happy crafting!

Finally, a BOY!!

In between writing research papers and creating powerpoint presentations, I some how managed to make a card for a family friend.  So much of my baby inspired cards have been either neutral or pink, but finally, some one is having a boy! So far this year, 3 of my friends have had little girls, and as for my other friend, we will find out in 3 weeks or less.  Definitely can't wait for that!!

But back to the card...  I wanted to do something cute, but not girly.  So I went with some pretty standard baby boy colors: blue and brown.  I got this blue distressed checkered paper a long time ago, and I have just been dying for an excuse to use it.  So, naturally, it was kinda my inspiration piece for the card.

And you know me...  can't resist a sale.  Michael's was having a clearance on that blue ribbon like 6 months ago, so I bought way too much of it and hadn't even taken the wrappers off until I did this card.  But it was totally worth it... right?

I wanted to do something fun for the insert of the card, rather than just a blank insert, or something with color-blended edges, so I had some fun with my New Arrivals Cricut cartridge and cut out a bunch of fun shapes in different colors and textures.

I LOVED the way the ducky came out; I used yellow paper that has dots embossed into it.  I thought that it was super cute with the texture.  And plus, I'm starting to love polka dots on everything.

Speaking of polka dots...  I got a new stamp that looks kinda splatter paint ish and I was embossing with it last night for these bachelorette party invites I'm doing.  Super stoked about that.  BUT!  I'll be bringing you those pics once they are done.

Until then...  happy crafting!!
